Scotsman Hotel - "Capital Luxury"
A Simple Hotels User from London, England (posted 03 Mar 2004)
"I haven't returned to Edinburgh since this buidling bacame a hotel - it used to be the head office of the Scotsman newspaper. A great hotel, offering luxurious rooms with great views out over the city towards Princes Street. Food perhaps not as good as it could have been - but a great bar open to non-res too so a great atmosphere."
Restaurant @ The Bonham Hotel - "Great Sunday Lunch"
A Simple Hotels User from Livingston, Scotland (posted 19 Feb 2004)
"I took the my parents to the restaurant at the Bonham Hotel for Sunday lunch last month - and as there was four of us benefited from a great all in price including wine!! Food was really good, with a varied menu allowing my wife and I (chicken and chorizo balottine) to be fairly adventurous but for my father to enjoy the roast. A great meal served in a lovely contemporary and airy room. Only criticism was the table of noisy children nearby, but can't really blame the staff for them."
George Hotel - "Office Parties"
A Simple Hotels User from Manchester, UK (posted 04 Feb 2004)
"Visited Edinburgh for a weekend in December. What was really disappointing, was that the hotel was completely swamped both nights by exceptionally drunken non-residents attending office Christmas parties in the banqueting suites - but they over-ran the entire hotel with their vulgar language and propensity to vomit!!"
Petit Paris - "Authentic French Bistro"
A Simple Hotels User from Glasgow, Scotland (posted 03 Feb 2004)
"Looking every bit a French bistro, with whitewashed walls, chequered tablecloths bedecking the tiny tables and a smattering of clutter d'automobile- all that and accents sexier than Michelle from 'Allo 'Allo. Open everyday, with a special cheaper/simple lunch/pre-theatre menu - the food is authentic, delicious and in good hearty portions. Special mention must go to the Boudin noir with Limousin mustard, an excellent 2-person rack of beef and some excellent cheeses. A decent wine list - and all at prices more reasonable than you'd expect from a stuffier establishment."
