St Andrews, internationally renowned as "the home of golf", boasts several excellent golf courses including the famous "Old Course". The town is steeped in history and well worth a visit for golfers and non-golfers alike. The West Sands beach with 2 miles of golden sands is also popular with wind surfers, sand yachters and kite enthusiasts. The town abounds with eating places and lively bars, well frequented by the university students. The prestigious University of St Andrews is the oldest in Scotland founded in the 15th century. The Old Course will host the British Open Golf Championship in 2005. |

"There is not only Golf to do in St Andrews, it is full of historic places to visit like the Castle and St Rules tower and old grave yard. In the Autumn they have the Lamis Market with stall and Show Rides in Market Street, friendly folks to talk to. It is the start of many tours private or not into the lovely villages around St Andrews and down the coast line and is a short distance to Dundee,Perth,Stirling,Edinburgh and about One and half hours from Glasgow. And remember a visit to Falkland Palace, a short drive away and a wonderful place to see Scottish History for Real. So don't be scared to branch out if you have a car. And enjoy your Stay in my home Town. St Andrews." | |
