Warsaw is Poland’s capital and its largest city. It is a vibrant place that has brushed off one of the 20th century’s worst man-made cataclysms to come back to life as the focus of Central Europe’s economic and business life. Though the scars of World War II can still be seen in places, the Poles have managed to restore much of their capital’s most valuable historical monuments, including the city’s Old Town – an incredible replica of a place that was purposely razed by the Nazis after the heroic 1944 uprising. In addition to its business life, Warsaw also brims with art and entertainment. Just as an example, each June and July visitors from all parts flock here for the Warsaw Mozart Festival, a one-of-its-kind event that features world-renowned performances of all of the great master’s operas. |
